Cedric Benson, running back for the NFL's Chicago Bears was recently charged with driving under the influence...on a boat. He failed a sobriety test on the 30-foot boat and then had to be subdued with pepper spray and dragged ashore by officers after resisting arrest.

According to Travis County, Illinois Sheriff's Department spokesman Roger Wade, as a result of the May 3 incident, Benson will face charges of boating while intoxicated and resisting arrest. Both charges are class B misdemeanors punishable by up to six months in prison and a $2,000 fine.

While operating the boat with 15 passengers on board, Benson was stopped for a random inspection by a Lower Colorado River Authority officer. According to the authority, he failed the sobriety test and was uncooperative when the officer attempted to bring him ashore.
