On Monday, October 20, former Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick entered a plea of guilty to driving under the influence and other charges in Norfolk.
According to Commonwealth’s Attorney’s spokeswoman Amanda Howie, 24-year-old Vick, whose brother is former Virginia Tech and Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, was also convicted of eluding a police officer and driving on the wrong side of the road. In June, charges were filed against Vick after he fled from an officer on a bicycle.
Howie said that a 12-month jail sentence on the DUI charge was suspended by a judge, who imposed a $250 fine and suspended his license for a year. He will also have to pay fines of $280 for the additional charges.
Vick was dismissed from the Hokies in 2006 after numerous behavioral problems both on and off of the football field. He was signed to a free agent contract by the Miami Dolphins but later released in 2007.
