Jamal Williams, defensive tackle for the San Diego Chargers, has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, making him the second Charger to be arrested for DUI in less than a month.
On February 1, Williams was pulled over for speeding on a freeway outside downtown San Diego, according to the California Highway Patrol. Williams submitted a blood sample for a blood-alcohol test, but the results were not yet known. He was booked into county jail and released on bail.
On January 6, five days before the Chargers lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the playoffs, receiver Vincent Jackson was arrested on suspicion of DUI. He is due in court February 17. According to the CHP, he was on probation for a previous DUI offense.
Williams, an 11-year-veteran, shared the Chargers’ Most Valuable Player Award with quarterback Philip Rivers this past season.
