Joba Chamberlain, pitcher for the New York Yankees, was arrested on October 18 in his hometown of Lincoln, Nebraska on charges of driving under the influence, speeding, and having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle.

The 23-year-old major leaguer was stopped shortly before 1 a.m. and the trooper detected the odor of alcohol, according to Nebraska State Patrol spokeswoman Deb Collins. Chamberlain was transported to Cornhusker Place Detox, an emergency detoxification center in Lincoln.

Collins said she was not aware of whether or not he had been kept overnight, but noted that most people taken there are released after they complete the detoxification process. She also did not know his blood-alcohol content.
