At the end of the recent Click It or Ticket campaign in Albemarle County, more than one-thousand tickets were issued.

According to police, in the multiple checkpoints set up across the county, a total of 1,812 vehicles were stopped and 1,192 citations were issued during the two-week period from May 18-May 31.

The majority of the tickets issued were for speeding violations (670). Other violations included 153 inspection violations, 72 registration violations, 40 drivers without a license, and 28 drivers with suspended or revoked licenses. There were also 48 tickets handed out for seat belt or child restraint violations.

Also during the two-week campaign, 14 arrests for driving under the influence were made and 108 vehicle crashes were investigated.
