If you think that you are suffering from alcohol addiction, then you should strongly consider getting help. The most visible support group for alcoholics in the U.S. is Alcoholics Anonymous. And there are numerous AA chapters in the state of Virginia that can help you.
The Parent Organization
Alcoholics Anonymous was founded in 1935 with the sole purpose of helping alcohol addicts stop drinking. It strives to accomplish this goal by hosting meetings that bring alcoholics together so they can help and support each other. AA has a presence in all 50 states, including Virginia.
Finding a Virginia Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting Near You
Here's how to find an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting in your area.
- Go to the website of the Virginia Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous.
- In the left-hand column, click on "MEETING LISTINGS by Day/Town." Click on the day of the week you wish to attend a meeting. Then click on your city. You will see a list of meeting times and locations for that day and location.
- You can also click on "MEETING SEARCH" in the left-hand column. This will let you find a meeting near you using additional search criteria such as zip code, meeting time, group name, or meeting location.
When you find a meeting site, there is no need to call and make a reservation or put your name on a membership list. All you have to do is show up at the appointed time and place. There are no membership fees, though AA does accept donations.
