In the first three months of 2006, there were 28 homicides in the city of Richmond. So far this year, there have been six. Statistics show fewer violent crimes such as rape, aggravated assault and robbery of an individual. Property crimes -- arson, burglary, larceny and auto theft also have dipped markedly in the first three months of 2007 compared with the same period last year. Major crime -- a combination of all violent crimes and property crimes -- is down 18 percent.
