June 9, 2010 - John R. Tucker III, a 55-year-old retired Henrico County police officer was arrested and charged with DUI after driving his pickup truck through safety cones and into a work zone on I-295, injuring a highway paving employee.
According to reports in the Times Dispatch, Harrison was actually driving home from the retirement party of another police officer when the alleged DUI crash took place around 12:45 AM. Injured in the car accident was Robert M. Harrison, 41, of Richmond, who is currently in serious condition at VCU Medical Center.
Tucker has since been charged with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a blood-alcohol test. Tucker was taken to the Henrico County Jail but later released on bond. He is scheduled to appear in Henrico General District Court on July 17.
